  • Welcome to the Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak forums! Please introduce yourselves!

    Hi everybody!

I'm Rory McGuire, the lead designer of Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak and it's our pleasure to see this forum get opened. Thank you for joining us here as we announce and ultimately launch Deserts of Kharak.

There is a statement we made today to our team: "Without our fans, we wouldn't be here, we wouldn't have this job, we wouldn't be making this game." We are super excited to announce the game but also talk with all of you about what we are building, what you expect to see and together make this an incredible game! You guys aren't guests of our forums, you are our forums.

So please, introduce yourselves and say hi!

Ohai. I'm MobileAcolyte, so-named because this is the moniker I used back on the original Homeworld 2 WebX forums. I've played Homeworld since I was little and greatly look forward to giving DoK a shot

Shout outs to my fellow Seattle-based Homeworlders.

Hi, Hayden Here. I tried to give you guys a lot of money a few years ago, but you ended up giving it right back. I've been excited for this project since it was announced as Hardware: Shipbreakers, and I'm very interested to see where things go.

      Right back at ya, MobileAcolyte.

Hello! I write things sometimes, and sometimes they are Homeworld fanfiction. Been playing since 2007 when I found the box in my basement's storage along with a space station sim game. My reaction was "WHY WAS I NOT AWARE OF THIS??" To which my dad shrugged because he doesn't game. It's been my favourite game pretty much since that day, and I'm excited to see what the next (previous) chapter will be. So far I like what I see.

Howdy Mr. McGuire, and the rest of you. I'm looking forwards to the release, and have already pre-ordered. My Pride of Hiigara mothership statue is lit up on my desk, where it's been since the release of HWRM!

I'm using the same name I did when...when...has it been that long? Anyway, I moderated the official Homeworld forums alongside Elorran for many years. Hopefully I will see some familiar faces show up around here. Help jog my memory if I don't spot you right away .

Edit: Found some old stuff on the hard drive. For the Sierra-era folks:

I'm sure this list will grow so I might as well get it out of the way while the paint is still fresh in here *resists urge to touch the walls*
I am elorran, long time homeworld fan since discovering this treasure in late 1999.
Mostly I frequented Sierra's old webx message board, but occasionally dropping by the relicnews forums to check in.
In 2003 I and Kushan_Pilot took over the mantle of community moderator from Nocturnus for Sierra's Homeworld forum, until 2008 when the company under went a business merger with Activision.
I have dabbed in modding with no great success, but its still fun to poke around "under the hood" so to speak. So I look forward to poking at the gears inside Deserts of Kharak.

              Good evening, I am Fence.

I have been happily following this game for the past 3 years and am excited to see a release date so soon when I have not seen any information really since hw remaster stuff.

I look forward to seeing how this community and game grow.

KiaOra guys, I'm a very longtime fan - signed up at Relicnews many years ago after discovering Homeworld. I don't post there any more, but I'm here anyways

                    Welcome to BBI's official forums!

I'm Michael K, a campaign designer at BBI, and huge fan of Homeworld in all its incarnations. You'll likely find me here and poking around /r/DesertsOfKharak, as I'm a bit of a reddit lurker. I'm just as excited as the fans waiting for release; I can't wait!

Hi all, I'm Norsehound. Once upon a time I sought to map the entire Homeworld universe, and have been a fan for a long time. Hiigara's been over the horizon for a long while now but it's good to see it starting to come up again. Looking forward to the Gaalsien saga of Kharak's history!

Hey! I'm Jeff from BBI, and I work as a producer here. I'm thrilled we've had a group of dedicated fans sign up so quickly. I look forward to getting everyone's input on both the new forums and on Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. We are still working out the kinks on our shiny new forum, and your feedback can definitely help us.

Hi guys! I'm Redezem, been playing Homeworld as long as I can remember, starting with the Homeworld 1 pre-release demo. My dad happened to be on a business trip in the US when Homeworld 1 was released, so I got one of them fancy boxed copies dragged all the way back here to Australia. Much much later, saw Hardware, recognised the artwork immediately, been following Blackbird ever since Hyper excited for all these new developments in the Homeworldverse, been a looooong time.

Hi everyone! I go by 9ice in dark corners of the Internet, and I've been a fan of HW since my grandmother foolishly bought me the Homeworld Game of the Year edition. I have the original Homeworld Technical Manual softly warmed by the light from my Pride of Hiigara model, and I cannot WAIT for Deserts of Kharak! Fingers crossed for an appearance from my favorite kiith, the Maanani!

Hello there. I'm a lawyer and marketing consultant from Brasil. I love the HW universe since I played HW1 for the first time, and I sincerely hope this is the start of a new era for that awesome IP.
